Celebration of 14TH AUGUST, DIAMOND JUBILEE CELEBRATION THROUGH MONSOON PLANTATION AT UNIVERSITY OF SWAT August 14, 2022

This year Pakistan celebrated it's Diamond Jubilee i.e., 75th Independence Day on 14th August 2022. Independence Day is Pakistan's national day and is celebrated annually on the 14th of August. This day is an occasion to promote patriotism and national unity and is observed in much the same way as Pakistan Day.

This year, Environmental Protection Society (EPS) celebrated the Diamond Jubilee by holding a monsoon plantation campaign at the University of Swat. The event was organized in collaboration with the University of Swat and the Forest Department – district Swat to promote patriotism and national unity and a sense of clean and green Pakistan. EPS fully facilitated the event expenses as well as arrangements.

In the event, Deans of University Faculties, Professors, Lecturers, selected students/Alumni, SDFO Forest Department, EPS Executive Director, Programs Manager, Units Heads and Staff participated. The event was held in the Committee Room of the University of Swat. More than 50 participants were present in the ceremony. Mr. Fazal Rabi – Incharge Institute of Agricutlural Sciences had a brief note about the event and then Mr. Akbar Zeb – Executive Director EPS welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of the day as well as that of plantation to make our country clean and green. SDFO Forest Department also shed lights on the importance of plantation and then Mr. Qasim – Dean of the University of Swat concluded the event with the remarks that we have to show our love, passion and commitment to the nation socio-economic development in which the role of the University of Swat is prominent. He appreciated the effort of EPS that monsoon plantation is the best way to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee. At the end of the event 45 plants of different species like pine, bottle brush, citrus species and broad leaves species were planted in front of Administration and academic blocks. All these plants were evergreen species and some have flowering capacity while the other were planted with a purpose to give shade on the pathways for the students and faculty members.
