4. Project Objective & Focus
The project aims to strengthen climate resilience and promote sustainable ecosystems in the target districts. It will achieve this through a multi-stakeholder approach focusing on community livelihoods, institutional capacity building, and widespread awareness on climate adaptation.
5. Key Objectives & Planned Activities
The project will be implemented through the following interconnected activity streams:
A. Livelihoods Enhancement & Economic Resilience
• Conduct Green Jobs and Entrepreneurship Trainings in Buner and Swat.
• Facilitate Market Linkages Development for trainees, including evaluations and reporting.
• Implement Value Chain Development initiatives.
• Execute a Market Access Program (MAP).
B. Institutional Capacity Building & Governance
• Hold coordination meetings with relevant government departments and community stakeholders.
• Conduct capacity-building workshops for district government officials in Buner and Swat.
• Deliver specialized training for government officials on Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA), Natural Resource Management (NRM), and climate resilience.
C. Awareness Raising & Community Engagement
• Organize awareness-raising sessions on EbA and climate change for students, teachers, and community members.
• Conduct four trainings on Climate-Smart Agriculture practices.
• Facilitate the observance of relevant International Days to promote environmental stewardship.
6. Expected Outcomes
• Increased economic opportunities and climate-resilient livelihoods for communities in Swat and Buner.
• Enhanced capacity of local government officials to integrate EbA and climate resilience into planning and policies.
